Nice effect. The style reminds me of watercolour. Did you use references for the different animals? It must have been difficult to create this masterpiece of composition (I mean look at how Falco blends into the curves of Fox's face and the eye position matches up to make it either Falco or Fox's, genius). The substitutions (Falco being a falcon not a pheasant, Peppy looking like a rabbit rather than a hare and Slippy looking more like a frog than a toad) also work to make the characters look closer to their in game counterparts.
